old school house, bolton

Location:

Old School House, Bolton

Overview:

This development feels contemporary without turning its back on the past. The brief was to create a cohesive community of buildings – each one a bespoke family home. Each of the nine homes in this small development has a personalised layout, to ensure each has privacy and most importantly, spectacular views over the private fishing lake.

The five townhouses in the School House, incorporate original features within bright, light and contemporary spaces. Designed to make the most of the lake-side views, the lower ground floor is an integral carparking space, while the main living spaces are located on the first floor, with south-facing balconies – perfect for a gin and tonic in the sunshine while soaking in the view! The bedrooms on the third floor, sit in the architectural roof-space with original beams.

The four, new-build, detached properties offer a contemporary rendering of the schoolhouse – textured brick echoes the rough-cut stone exterior of the original building, with smooth brick framing the windows and the angle of the pitched gives a nod to the rear gables and clock house.
